Global Chamber Dallas Thriving in its 2nd Year

Global Chamber Dallas Thriving in its 2nd Year
24 Apr 2017 by Global Chamber

What a difference a year makes! Global Chamber Dallas hosted its official launch in December, 2015 and spent 2016 experiencing it's first year operating. The year was spent starting meaningful professional relationships, sharing our mission with others, and learning the needs of the international business community in DFW. We were able to establish a wonderful membership base, a supportive Advisory Board and create relevant events to connect our network in person. We received encouragement from others as they shared with us that they felt we were filling a void in Dallas and that there was a specific need for a network that specifically focused on global business.

In April, 2017, I am thrilled by our progress. We have truly united a global business community that is collaborative and relevant to each other. These community members are building business as they are developing professional relationships with each other and learning how they can support each other. We are seeing new collaborations, more client introductions, and many connections to other parts of the world.

We continue to add value to our membership base through multiple avenues. Our members get special access to trade delegations, such as the Belgian Trade delegation we hosted in December. Our members get huge discounts, just like the 100% scholarship they received last year to the highly regarded Thunderbird Leadership Development courses. In addition, our members get speaking opportunities where they get the chance to share their expertise with others. We value being able to learn from each other.

Not only do we connect our network locally, but we also connect our network globally, which is what makes Global Chamber unique. One of our members was in Tokyo for a few weeks, and we connected her to our Executive Director of Global Chamber Tokyo and she was able to set up productive business meetings while in Japan. This is the Global Chamber magic at work!

Our events keep getting better and better. Our first annual "Grow Globally Fair" was a huge hit, and we got to acknowledge some of the global business professionals that really inspire us through our highly buzzed about award ceremony. One of our Sponsors, Polsinelli, hosted huge Dallas sensation Suzy Batiz, founder of Poopourri, and other amazing women in our Women in Global Business event. Polsinelli also hosted our first Ambassador as a speaker, Vasko Naumovski of Macedonia, and is about to host our second Ambassador next week!

How exciting that Robert Jordan, former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, author and frequent commentator on CNN , MSNBC, Fox News, Bloomberg and the New York Times Magazine Group is coming to speak at a Global Chamber Dallas next week entitled "Believe it or Not There is Some Good News Coming in the Middle East" 4/27 Polsinelli. Ambassador Jordan wrote "Desert Diplomat: Inside Saudi Arabia after 9/11".

Another highlight for us is our first all day event, just three weeks away, called "Threats to the Global Marketplace". We are teaming up with the US Department of Commerce and have organized multiple sessions where our audience will learn from FBI agents and experts in security about protecting their intellectual property, cyber security, economic espionage, risks with foreign currencies and virtual currencies, and more!

I hope you have enjoyed reading our update! Please stay in touch with us, ask to be added to our newsletter by emailing us at Show up to one of our events any time- we love meeting fellow "globies"!
